The ECN Foundation has commemorated the 2026 International Day of the Girl Child by donating various items to girls at the School for Special Needs in Iwo, Osun State.
The outreach, held on October 11, 2026, was part of the foundation's efforts to celebrate girls, promote their well-being and support those living with disabilities.
The donation was aimed at showing love, care and solidarity with the girls, while highlighting the importance of inclusion, equal opportunities and access to essential resources for every child, regardless of physical or developmental challenges.
The International Day of the Girl Child, observed annually on October 11, provides an opportunity to draw attention to the challenges girls face and promote their rights, education, protection and empowerment.
Through the initiative, the ECN Foundation reaffirmed the importance of ensuring that girls with special needs are not left behind in efforts to promote the welfare and development of children across Nigeria.
The visit to the school in Iwo also underscored the need for individuals, organisations and government agencies to support institutions catering to children with special needs and provide an environment where every child can learn, grow and fulfil their potential.
The foundation's gesture served as a reminder that celebrating the girl child goes beyond public declarations and requires practical actions that improve the lives of girls, particularly those in vulnerable circumstances.
By reaching out to the girls at the School for Special Needs, Iwo, the ECN Foundation demonstrated its commitment to making the International Day of the Girl Child meaningful through acts of generosity, compassion and inclusion.
